I powerful tribute to perseverance
This peak, long known by many names across generations, was renamed Mount Blue Sky in 2023 to honor the heritage of the Indigenous peoples of this region. “Blue Sky” carries deep meaning for the Arapaho people, known historically as the Blue Sky People, and holds significance in Cheyenne ceremonial life as an expression of renewal and continuity.
In this painting, the mountain is not represented as an illustration, but as a living presence—textured, luminous, and rising from the earth into open sky. The warm amber and gold tones echo both sunrise and horizon-bound light, suggesting that steady ascent that comes from persistent intention.
